More Than Paradise

This time magical ARTROOM produced the exhibition which is called 「more than paradise」. Souichi Yamaguchi is an artist who changes the way of watching and seeking forms that do not call their own names.
For example, though his work seems like symmetrically at the first time, when you observed carefully it looks change differently and see the new form. He shows the new aspects that we have not recognized so far.

Soichi Yamaguchi is the honorable first prize winner of GEISAI #9.
It is never easy to be No. 1 in any sort of a world.
But the wave has come to him.
In the world of art, it is critical to catch on when the wave comes.
This exhibition will be the one smash hit that rides the wave
as it releases itself with the biggest momentum.
The efflorescent moment of an artist's lifetime.
Let us all give our blessings.

企画趣旨
　magical, ARTROOMは「日本・アジアの若手作家をひきだし、日本のアート環境を（市場を含め）育て、動きを誘発・支援するシステム作り」をめざす、ニュータイプのアートルームとして、日本・アジアのアートシーンを世界に伝える雑誌の発行を中心に、企画展、イベント、レクチャーの企画等、単なるスペース運営にとどまらない、戦略性がきわめて高いにもかかわらず不定形であるようなニュータイプのギャラリー活動を行います。運営メンバーは、市原研太郎・岡田聡・後藤繁雄・ヒロ杉山・吉井仁実の５人、事務局を京都造形芸術大学芸術編集研究センターが運営します。
　このたびmagicalでは、個展「more than paradise」を企画しました。山口　聡一は、「カタチ」に対する見方を変えて、本来そのものが持っている名前では呼べないカタチを探っている作家です。一見すると鏡面のようでもよくみると違いがあったり、目をこらすとまた新たなカタチがみえてきたり、今まで気がつかなかった対象物の新たな一面を引き出します。

GEISAI ♯９で金賞の栄誉に輝いた山口聡一さん。
どんな世界でも一番になる事は容易くはない。
彼には波が来た。
芸術の世界はこの波を見極める事が大切だ。
今回の展覧会はその波に乗る、
重力に身を任せた最高に勢いのある一発。
芸術家の人生が花開く瞬間。
皆で祝福しよう。（なぜなら、その瞬間は美しい！）
