We are pleased to announce that our next show entitled “WORM HOLE episode 8” will open its door on September 14th. 4 directors of “magical, ARTROOM” selected 2 emerging artists along the line with the magical’s manifest. “WORM HOLE episode 8” is curated in the way the works of the 2 artists, Aiko Takano and Aya Saito evoke one magical space – a unity.
Both Aiko Takano and Aya Saito have won the prize in GEISAI and Gunma Biennale for Young Artists. Aya Saito won the first prize in FOIL Magazine Award and Hitotsubo Exhibition. She draws on a 150cm long paper every day and night. You can recognize her struggle with her own work, when you see her painting. Aiko Takano recomposes clippings of magazines. A girl in the magazine, the icon who doesn’t have personality any more, faces up to cut flowers. Takano also made a solid work for this exhibition.
It is indeed not so simple to predict where the trend of the contemporary art is headed, and to which direction act to seek representations for internal entities goes as our contemporary lives are globalized and becoming more and more dynamic. Knowing it is our reality, we present one of our suggestions to you.
このたびmagicalでは、新人企画展「WORM HOLE episode 8」を企画しました。magicalのマニフェストに相応しい新人作家を、運営メンバーが選出。しかし、単なる「グループ展」ではなく、お互いが関係し合 い、全体として、一つの「magical」としての、インスタレーションとなるようにキュレーションを行います。
今回は、斉藤彩と高野愛子による展示です。２人とも、GEISAIや群馬青年ビエンナーレでの受賞経験があります。また、斉藤彩は雑誌『FOIL』ア ワードや『ひとつぼ展』でもグランプリをとりました。斉藤彩の作品は、150cmほどの紙に連日描いたものです。画面とのたたかいがみられます。高野愛子 の作品は、雑誌の切り抜きを再構成したものです。雑誌に出てくる女の子ーそれはもう人格がなくイコン状態になっている様子ーを切り花と対峙させています。 今回は立体の作品にも挑戦しています。
グローバルかつダイナミックな現代の芸術の流れ、その一方での内在的な表現の動き・運動性がどの方向を向かうかを予測するのは難しいですが、我々なりの一つのケースを提示することができればと考えます。
