‘magical, ARTROOM’ is pleased to present “ONGALOO + video NANOO 5 dimension”; a collaborative exhibit by YAMATAKA EYE, whose known for such work as BOREDOMS and NAOHIRO UKAWA who’s had a wide range of experience including working as a VJ and a graphic designer.
This will be the first presentation in Tokyo for the project launched in January at the ‘art project room ARTZONE’ in Kawara-cho, Kyoto. Almost two thousand people attended the month-long Kyoto exhibition and there has been eager anticipation for the exhibition to move to Tokyo.
The exhibition will feature the following:
(1) YAMATAKA EYE’s new collage/drawing.
(2) A video by NAOHIRO UKAWA recreating YAMATAKA EYE’s collage.
(3) A collaboration space produced by NAOHIRO UKAWA. It will consist of copied YAMATAKA EYE’s drawings hang in excess light, and by wearing three dimensional eye glasses, a unique illusion appears.
The exhibition is not just a simple collaboration by two artists. It poses a new collaborative possibility: UKAWA functioning as an EFFECTOR and a TRANSFORMER to YAMATAKA.
There will be two exhibit locations: Roppongi’s ‘magical’ and Kiyosumi-shirakawa’s ‘MAGIC ROOM?.’ The main display at ‘magical’ will be YAMATAKA EYE’s work (see (1) above). ‘MAGIC ROOM?’ will be showing NAOHIRO UKAWA’s video and installation (see (2) & (3) above).
企画趣旨
このたびmagical, ARTROOMでは、ボアダムス等の活動で知られるヤマタカEYE氏と、VJやグラフィックデザイナーなど多岐にわたる活動で知られている宇川直宏氏とのコラボレーション展、「ONGALOO +video NANOO 5 dimention」を開催いたします。
本展覧会は、京都河原町art project room ARTZONEにて1月企画開催されたプロジェクトの、東京初上陸となります。京都では、1ヶ月で2000人近くの人がつめかけ、東京での発表が待望されていました。
本展覧会のポイントは3つ
1） ヤマタカEYEの新コラージュ/ドローイング作品
2） 宇川直宏がヤマタカEYEの作品をもとにコラージュしなおして作成した映像
3） 宇川直宏プロデュースによるコラボレーションの場。そこにはヤマタカEYEのドローイング作品が印刷されたパーツが吊るされ、過剰な光と3Dメガネによる錯覚が空間を演出いたします。
単に二人による共同製作という形ではなく、ヤマタカにとって宇川はEFFECTOR、TRANSFORMERとして機能するような形での、新たなコラボレーションの形を提示します。
今回は、六本木magicalと清澄白河MAGIC ROOM?での二カ所での展示。magicalでは、1）ヤマタカEYEの作品を中心に、MAGIC ROOM?では、2）3）宇川直宏プロデュースによる映像とインスタレーション空間をご覧いただけます。
